Hey Earl, I do this all the time, not only with this but with other products. It's kind of like a leave-in conditioner, for me -- at least if your hair is extremely damaged. Now if you don't like your hair weighed down a lot (I do because of frizz) you might not like it, but it won't hurt it.

I think so. It's basically a nut seed oil so there aren't any harsh chemicals and it won't dry because it's an oil. Just don't lean your head on a couch or recliner without a towel on. Actually, I think it would be easier to have it in your hair all day than all night simply because I don't think a shower cap would stay on very well.
