It has .525% coal tar, but also has other ingredients that help with flaking. I used to use a shampoo that had much higher percentage, but this works just as well (believe me, I was nervous to switch) and this is much more gentle on the hair.

During fall when my scalp gets itchy and flaky, I use this. Haven't noticed a problem with it stripping my color treatments. Phillip B products are very natural, but still, you have to try it for yourself. I also have Neutrogenas dandruff shampoo/conditioner for color tx hair...either seems fine.
