Questions & Answers for SkinCeuticals SkinCeuticals Retexturing Activator

Question

If I use retexturing activator should I stop using C E Ferulic?

I like md forte II face wash and ceFerulic for the morning. In the evening i normally like to wash with a regular facewash and then use skinceuticals .5 retinol. I'd like to try the retexturing activator, but I'm just not sure whether I can use it with retinol or ceFerulic....

I'm using it with CE Ferulic, as a provention product, per the recommended clean, prevent, correct, protect. regimen. It's either/or with the retinol/ RA product, but not both. RA is designed for sensitive skin, with hydration.

Absolutely not.. C E Ferulic protects your skin from UV rays and environment damage and boost collagen. The Retexturizing Activator just rids your face of dead skin cells, stimulates new cell growth, helps lighten sundamage, and hydrates.

Retinol works similar to RActivator, but you can use both together if your skin can tolerate it. Using both together will only speed up the shedding of the outermost layer of skin.

Steps according to Skinceuticals are:
1. Cleanse 2. Protect(CE Ferulic or Phloretin CF) 3. Correct (Retinol, Retexturizing Activator) 4. Moisturize 5. Sunblock.

Hi, Whenever I am in the US I buy my skinceuticals from Skinstore but I live in France and so sometimes must buy them here. I bought the Retexturing Activator today and it came with a large promotional pamphlet which said the following: Step one, Cleanse/Tone, Step Two, Retexturing Activator (every day) and if you want to boost the effectiveness, then apply retinol 0.3 (lower than what you have in the US but should not make a difference) TWO TO THREE TIMES PER WEEK, then B5 if desired. Step Three, Phyto or Phyto Corrective, Step Four, face cream/balm or AGE Interrupter. Seems like a lot of steps but this is what Skinceuticals says in their pamphlet. They say that if you want to use it in the morning, here is the routine: cleanse, antioxydant, then Retexturing Activator, etc...
So it seems that you can use it with retinor and/or ce ferulic. Hope this helps..

I use CE Ferulic in the morning, followed by Retexturing Activator instead of BG Gel, and I use the Retexturing Activator again at night. I'm very pleased with the results. I do not use retinol, but I suspect since both retinol and the Retexturing Activator are both billed as exfoliators that you wouldn't want to use both.

Question

Can I use this product in conjunction with Renova?

I use Renova every other night. Sometimes my skin gets flaky. Can I use the retexturing activator to eliminate the dry, flaky skin?

Am not that familiar with Renova, but expect you're getting the dry flaky skin because it's slightly irritated. RA could irritate it even more, rather than help it.

This could cause more flaking. As it works similar to renova in destroying the outer layer of skin and stimulating new skin cell growth underneath. I would recommend the B5 gel much more so than this given you're on renova.

Because Renova is used under medical supervision, we do suggest that you contact your prescribing doctor or dermatologist.

Question

Which product do I use first, the Pigment Regulator or the Retexurizing Activator? Can use the Hydratiing B5 gel over that?

Step 1. Cleanse 2. Protect(CE Ferulic or Phloretin CF) 3. Correct(Pigment Regulator and Retexturing Activator ) 4. Moisturize 5. Sunblock

I would use the pigment Regulator first and apply Retexturing Activator on top since it has the hydrating hyaluronic acid in it. No need to use both the B5 and Retexturing Activator since both have hyaluronic acid. If you want to use b5 too use it after the Retexturizing Activator, but before a typical moisturizer.

All three of these products are in SkinCeuticals' "hydrate, lighten, calm" product series. (They suggest the following order: 1 cleanse/tone; 2 antioxidant; 3 hydrate, lighten calm; 4 moisturize.) I use Retexturizing Activator as a replacement for Hydrating B5 Gel after I apply my antioxidant (I use CE Ferulic). I have found no need to use the B5 gel, since the Retexturizing Activator also contains Hyaluronic Acid and gives the same feel to my skin. I have not tried the Pigment Regulator, but I think I will stick with the Retexturizing Activator, since my dark spots are diminishing daily.

Question

When should I use this- after I cleanse and before moisturizing? And should I apply it with my fingers or on a cotton pad?

Just put the recommended number of drops in one palm, rub both palms together, and quickly spread the product over your entire face and neck. Don't use a cotton pad--it will waste too much of the product.

Steps: 1. Cleanse 2. Protect(Vitamin C) 3. Correct(Retexturing Activator ) 4. Moisturize 5. Sunblock

Use fingers..you will loose too much product in the cotton pad. I've been leaning my head back and dropping it directly on the skin and spreading it even with my fingers.

Question

I've started adding the retexturing activator after the CE ferulic and am noticing I'm getting oily during the day and I'm not an oily skin type.

Seems like it's not sinking in and I just got a moderate/deep peel. Use Wexler moisturizers as the Skinceuticals has parabens. :( Any suggestions or experience with this. Am thinking of alternating. I alternate activator or retinol .5 at night time with no problems. thanks!

Using the same two products and haven't had that problem, so far. The Retexturing Activator has hyaluronic acid and perhaps that isn't coordinating well with your moisturizers. I've been very happy with Origins moisturizers on top of my Skin Ceuticals products.

As I understand it, both retinol and the RA have similar funcitons, but the latter is for more sensitive skin. It could be overkill and seems like a waste of money to use both.

Question

In which order do I use my products

Hi,

I am new to SkinCeuticals and have been using the Phyto Corrective Gel. I am now going to start using Phloretin CF, Retexturing Activator and Hydrating B5 Gel. Which order do I use them? I am confused by the instruction I recieved with the Phyto Corrective Gel. Also my doctor has put me on Epiduo which I use at night (for acne).

You can use it after the Phloretin CF and Retexturing Activator. However, as I understand it, you're doubling up unnecessarily on products if you also continue using the Phyto Corrective Gel and Hydrating B5 Gel because the Retexturing Activator has Hydrating B5 Gel in it, and it also helps to fade discoloration, the primary function of the Phyto Corrective Gel.

Ofcourse you can, there is no Retinol in the AGE product. Remember, the AGE product is not a real moisturizer, so you will need a moisturizer to use on top.
