Questions & Answers for Melvita Melvita Plant Oils Argan Oil

Question

Silly question here but . . . is this 100% pure argan oil? And is it organic?

All argan oil is organic (unless the company adds other ingredients that aren't and it is not 100%). Argan oil is only available organic and fair trade from Morocco from what I understand. This one is 100% pure I believe, there was nothing else listed in the ingredients.

Yes, this product is 100% argan oil, nothing else is added to it and according to the packaging, it is also certified organic through ECOCERT FRANCE.

hi BellaB - this is indeed 100% argan oil and organic. This is a great product and for the price and quality it can't be beat -- check out what other argan oils cost and you'll realize this is a steal!!

Question

I love Josie Maran's argan oil and see that this is a much better deal. Is there a scent to melvita and how strong is the scent? Thank you.

I have used both and personally like the Josie Maran oil better. The melvita does have a slight scent to it, not too strong or anything, but there is one present. I find the texture of the Josie Maran oil to seem different as well. I think she may use a higher grade of oil, I know hers is "first cold-pressed, cosmetic grade". Similar to how olive oils can be of different grades, so can argan oil. This one is ok though if you want to try it for the price.

Melvita's argan oil *is* a much better deal than Josie Maran's and is the same thing. I love to use it on my hair. There is no scent that I've noticed, actually I think Melvita's oil smells less than Josie's.

Question

How is this processed?

I love Josie Maran's argan oil, but I love Melvita's price better. Josie says her oil is cold presssed, and supposedly cold pressing makes a difference. Does anyone know how this oil is processed?

I could be wrong, but I think argan seeds HAVE to be cold pressed in order to keep their integrity. I agree - I love argan oil for my hair and skin and prefer Melvita's price point for this too and purchase Melvita's oil myself.
