I used the original. The first time I used the paraben free I noticed a very slight odor difference.

I cannot speak to the chemical differences but as a user of both formulas, here is my take. I preferred the old formula. The newer one has a slight fragrance (but not bad), whereas the older one was more neutral. The newer product also does not feel quite a luxurious and it does not soak in quite as well. It feels a little like it sits on top of my skin. While I prefer the old formula, I will still ALWAYS have a jar of Atopalm in my cabinet. When my skin is stinging and sensitive, this is my go-to cream. We also use it for all kinds of minor skin irritations like bugs bites and rashes. It's still an excellent product but I would be willing to pay more for the old version!

There is hydrogenated vegetable oil in the reformulated version. I am using it now and am very happy with it (i have very sensitive, dry skin). Some people are concerned about it because it has the potential to clog pores, but I could not be happier with the way it performs. It's one of the best moisturizers on the market.
