That is not the purpose or function of the roller. It helps deliver the products you use on your face to the inner layers of your skin so they are absorbed more deeply.

I am using my serums before I roll. Then I apply my moisturizer after rolling. I am rolling every other night right now, as I just started to use the roller. I may go to every night as I continue to roll.

answer 2
I cleanse my face, apply my product, roll, and then the instructions direct you to apply a light moisture after, which I don't do. I use it at night so I am not sensitive during the day and I dont have to apply makeup over the rolled skin, which seems like it might increase the possibility of irritation

Question

Is this painful to use?

Does it hurt to use this? How sharp are the "micropoints?"

Not painful - sort of like sandpaper pressed on your skin. The micropoints are just tiny metal prongs.

I have had no irritation whatsoever, and I am fair-skinned, 59 (skin is thinning at this age), and very picky. Just make sure you roll in a straight line - no curves, because that's when it gets a little uncomfortable. Of course you can go over curves, just not around to the right and left!

I would not use alcohol or other solutions which may deteriorate the surface. I'd use soapy water, or dishwashing liquid.

How long are the needles? I read somewhere on another site it's 2mm when it's actually 0.18mm. Can someone verify the size?

The needles are tiny, and don't really "penetrate" the skin. The feeling is almost less than leaning your cheek against a half-day's growth of beard: not painful, but slightly prickly.
