Questions & Answers for Topix Topix Replenix All Trans Retinol Smoothing Serum 10x

Question

Hi, How do you use this product from Replenex? I bought this and have used it and now my face is burning and itching after use.

Is there something I can use along with it to sooth my face? I know there were lower strengths but I needed more for my face. Thanks, Peppy

Usually if your skins gets too dry or irritated with a retinol product, you want to back off a little and gradually increase how frequently you apply it. I would try using it every 3 days for 2 weeks, then every other day, then try daily use and see if that helps.

If your face is getting too dry you can also use a moisturizer with this, but that likely won't help with burning or redness.

I have this product and if you are experiencing a burning and itch sensation, i would not use it, as the strength is too strong for your skin, go to lower strength and use over longer period. It is to be used at night it is not a day cream nor a moisturizing cream, its a treatment serum..i love this product and highly recommend it. You must be sensitive without realizing it, i would ask if you could get a return on that bottle if it is still in time frame of purchase and get a lower strength, hope that helps.

its definately too strong for sensitive skin!! stop using immediately!!
i had to cut back to 2 or 3 times a week only.(at night)
you would probably be better off with the 3x or 5x.

I would use a small amount at first, blending it with a mild night cream. Maybe even starting out every other night and increasing slowly, this will help your skin adjust to this strength.

This product does have 1% retinol which is the highest you can buy over the counter. It is recommended that you start with the lower levels and work your way up to the 10X. How often are you using the product. Try starting out with just twice a week and working up to every other night. The green tea products in the Topix line will help with irritations, other good products are Atopalm, Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Mask and Vichy Thermal Balm.

It all depends on your skin. Retinol products usually not great for sensitive or dry skin, but I really enjoy it. I use it at night, sometimes in combination with another light moisturizer. Once massaged in to the skin it is soft and smells great.

If you are not currently using a retinol product, I recommend starting sloe and gradually work your way up to daily use.

Yes, retinols are good for anyone looking for an anti-aging product. As your skin ages, the cell turnover rate slows down. Retinol products help to speed up this process revealing new, bright skin.

I do use this on neck and face, but I don't like putting any retinol products too close to the eyes. I like to use the ROC eye cream for that.

I use it very sparingly around face and neck, i would not go nuts with it as its a thick consistency and goes on like silk, the heat of your fingers will give you the coverage. And it is to be used at night, its not a day cream/serum

I sure wouldn't. But then my eye area is very sensitive and I have to be careful. When I first got it I use it every night and I peeled like a chemical peel. It's a very strong product! Now i use it every 4th night and it smoothes skin very well. But around the eyes, I wouldn't try it

Retinol is not the best thing to use on eye lids. In my opinion, it's a little strong for the lid area, but depending on your skin type it might be ok under your eyes. Try using it at night starting out at just once a week and see how it goes. Be sure to use plenty of sunscreen if you use any Retinol product. I'm not sure about the effects on dark circles, but I don't think it is commonly used for that. Maybe someone else has a answer to that.....?

Question

Is the consistency of this "serum" supposed to be thick, dry and pasty? The product that I ordered from another website has this odd consistency.

What is the consistency of your Replenix Retinol Plus Smoothing Serum? I'm wondering if the product sent to me was old or bad? It's not a serum-like consistency at all.

That it the way it comes. It is certainly not creamy or serum-like. Tan-ish color, and seems almost dry until massaged in to the skin.

It is thick to pump, but not dry it goes on like silk not pasty, as its a retinol and caffeine product its more a treatment serum not moisturizing, thus you use it at night not daytime.

Retinol/Vitamin A has a yellow tinge. Most retinol products will have a yellow/brown hue. This particular product also contains silicone so it can be more easily spread.

Question

Is this a good product for someone in the mid 50's?

Have used the Obagi system - skin very sensitive and had several "horrible experiences" w/it. Expected the peeling, etc. But I actually had cracked, bleeding, raw places around nose, cheeks and mouth area. Was advised to back off and start again and not apply directly to those areas. But after 4 or 5 of those episodes - I decided the wrinkles, etc did not look as bad as a "raw scabby face".

Retinol products may not be the best for sensitive skin, but you could try gradually applying this product until you have worked up to daily or every other day. It may be less irritating than the Obagi.

I am in my 60s with sensitive skin. I believe you will love the results. It doesn't take a lot of product...and you can apply whatever moisturizer after application you like. Obagi has always seemed too harsh from what I have heard from friends. Let your skin get used to it...I used it once every few days...as I am using it now...and it still works fabulously!

i am 48 with fair skin. i was wary at first of using this product on my entire face, especially under the eyes.
i started with the 3x, and moved up to the 5x. then i started using around the eyes. much to my suprise, i had no irration what so ever.
i am now moving up to the 10x.
it really smooths out the lines and brightens up the face.
i use it daytime under foundation, as well as before going to bed.

No, it is not 10%... the level is 1% which is the maximum you can get over the counter. Topix serums are:

2X = .2%, 3X = .3%, 5X = .5% and 10X = 1%

Question

Is it ok to use this serum around the eyes?

It says that it lightens discolorations on the skin... So I was thinking if it does any good for dark circles? I tried to put it around my eyes, and the next day, when I used my regular Prevage eye, I had burning sensation... however, it is tempting anyway to see if this serum can do any good for dark circles?

Tanzorac and Tretinoin are prescription based topical acne treatments that leave your face very red and flaked, and yes they do work, but you cannot go out in sun and unless your skin is actually in need of treatment, i would not use them, and thats why i purchased this product, on the market it has the highest retinol without stripping the skin bare, its to be used only at night and remember its not a moisturising cream, its a treatment serum..it pumps out thick but goes on like silk, im very happy with it..but everyone is different.
