Questions & Answers for Topix Topix Replenix All Trans Retinol Smoothing Serum 10x

Question

Hi, How do you use this product from Replenex? I bought this and have used it and now my face is burning and itching after use.

Is there something I can use along with it to sooth my face? I know there were lower strengths but I needed more for my face. Thanks, Peppy

I have this product and if you are experiencing a burning and itch sensation, i would not use it, as the strength is too strong for your skin, go to lower strength and use over longer period. It is to be used at night it is not a day cream nor a moisturizing cream, its a treatment serum..i love this product and highly recommend it. You must be sensitive without realizing it, i would ask if you could get a return on that bottle if it is still in time frame of purchase and get a lower strength, hope that helps.

its definately too strong for sensitive skin!! stop using immediately!!
i had to cut back to 2 or 3 times a week only.(at night)
you would probably be better off with the 3x or 5x.

I would use a small amount at first, blending it with a mild night cream. Maybe even starting out every other night and increasing slowly, this will help your skin adjust to this strength.

This product does have 1% retinol which is the highest you can buy over the counter. It is recommended that you start with the lower levels and work your way up to the 10X. How often are you using the product. Try starting out with just twice a week and working up to every other night. The green tea products in the Topix line will help with irritations, other good products are Atopalm, Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Mask and Vichy Thermal Balm.

Yes, retinols are good for anyone looking for an anti-aging product. As your skin ages, the cell turnover rate slows down. Retinol products help to speed up this process revealing new, bright skin.

I use it very sparingly around face and neck, i would not go nuts with it as its a thick consistency and goes on like silk, the heat of your fingers will give you the coverage. And it is to be used at night, its not a day cream/serum

No, it is not 10%... the level is 1% which is the maximum you can get over the counter. Topix serums are:

2X = .2%, 3X = .3%, 5X = .5% and 10X = 1%

Question

Is it ok to use this serum around the eyes?

It says that it lightens discolorations on the skin... So I was thinking if it does any good for dark circles? I tried to put it around my eyes, and the next day, when I used my regular Prevage eye, I had burning sensation... however, it is tempting anyway to see if this serum can do any good for dark circles?

I would not recommend this one, at least not the 10x, because it might be too strong and drying.

i tried this around the eyes and regret it.

after just a few days using the 10x, my face was dry and burning, and my lines were twice as bad, especially around the eyes!
i am 48 with fair skin.....
its back to the 5x for me.

Is this product similar to tanzorac .1% cream. Do you apply it at night

Tanzorac and Tretinoin are prescription based topical acne treatments that leave your face very red and flaked, and yes they do work, but you cannot go out in sun and unless your skin is actually in need of treatment, i would not use them, and thats why i purchased this product, on the market it has the highest retinol without stripping the skin bare, its to be used only at night and remember its not a moisturising cream, its a treatment serum..it pumps out thick but goes on like silk, im very happy with it..but everyone is different.

Question

Is the consistency of this "serum" supposed to be thick, dry and pasty? The product that I ordered from another website has this odd consistency.

What is the consistency of your Replenix Retinol Plus Smoothing Serum? I'm wondering if the product sent to me was old or bad? It's not a serum-like consistency at all.

It is thick to pump, but not dry it goes on like silk not pasty, as its a retinol and caffeine product its more a treatment serum not moisturizing, thus you use it at night not daytime.

Retinol/Vitamin A has a yellow tinge. Most retinol products will have a yellow/brown hue. This particular product also contains silicone so it can be more easily spread.

is this serum as strong and as affective as tretinoin cream?

If your talking about a prescription formed tretinoin cream, then no, of course not, that cream is a topical acne treatment, and will make your skin red and flake fast...that is pretty strong stuff, and only available on a prescription. This serum is thick to pump but goes on very smooth with the heat from your fingers you get good coverage, use at night sparingly. I like it and will use it again.
