Questions & Answers for NIA24 NIA24 Skin Strengthening Complex

Question

Should I use Skin Strengthening or Intense Recovery cream?

I have melasma and it has been getting lighter with peels and retinol/HQ use. In the past i have used Obagi NuDerm (with little results) and most recently i have been using Kinerase Photofacial line. I am 40 years old light skin, red hair. While i have liked using the Kinerase line i'm wondering if this line might be more effective. I have used stronger products in the past with little results so that is why i'm wondering which cream i should use to start, my skin seems to be very resistant. Please advise.

I use the intense recovery in the winter at night when my skin is drier, but skin strengthening daily. I like it better than any other product I've tried ( strivectin, prevage, tns, etc)

I use the Skin Strengthening product for now because it's summer. The other one si more moisturizing. If you have dry skin and need a lot of moisturizing, you can get the recovery cream. What I like about NIA24 is that it helps with the sensitivity of the skin. I use tretinoin and until not too long ago, I would get flakes that were making my skin look way too dry. After using NIA24, it seems that I can use the tretinoin better, without getting my skin too dry,,,in other words, my skin is more resistant. Also, the sun spots fade away. It takes a while, but a combination of tretinoin and NIA24 helps quite a bit.

I use both skin strengthening as my daily moisturizer and the intense recovery cream at night. I think this is a great product line. It's the first one I have tried that really diminshes dark spots over time. Good luck.

I have melasma and so far the "holy grail" for that is M2. I have been using once a day and prevage at night and am amazed that almost all my melasma is gone, not just faded, as well as some birth marks. Start out with sensitive and don't forget to put their moisturizer over it,that is key. Work up slowly to the 20% and never forget their moisturizer. I will be honest that after a year have grown tired of the time involved with my skin at 57 so I'm going to cheat on all the products that have worked so well and see if the new White Lightening by IS CLINICAL is any better. M2 is amazing and wish I had none years ago about it can also clear up break outs if you have. I'm tired of M2 because it is sticky and I have OCD with any ,"new and improved" skin care.I have had no luck with kinnerase,my husband likes the eye lift?
As far as NIA24 I adore their eye creme but my face can't tolerate any of the face creams,I turn bright red and feel like face is burning.

I have resistant skin, and I have the ORPW skin type. I use Nia24 regularly with great success. A little pamphlet comes inside the brand's boxes, which has charts that illustrate the protocals for regimens based on skin type. The protocol for daytime use with normal and oily skin is that the Skin Strengthening Complex can be applied beneath the 100% Mineral Sunscreen, and for dry skin either the Skin Strengthening Complex (tube) or the Intensive Recovery Complex (jar) should be applied beneath the 100% Mineral Suncreen. For evening application, the Intensive Recovery Complex (jar) is recommended for both normal and dry skin, and the Skin Strengthening Complex (tube) is recommended for oily skin. The Nia24 pamphlet says that certain skin types can be sensitive to niacin at the beginning of product usage, with symptoms including flushing, an initial breakout, and dryness. I use most ot the products in this line, with the exceptions of the Intensive Recovery Complex, and the Eye Repair Complex. After my first application, I could tell that the Skin Strengthening Complex is quite powerful, because I felt it sort of tightening my skin. The Mexoryl in the Skin Strengthening Complex plumps up lines and fills in pores. I noticed a different feel to my face after two nightly applications. It actually seems to slow down oil production, so a moisturizer may be needed over the Strengthening Complex if you have dry skin, (or use the Intensive Recovery Complex). I have resistant skin, so right away I was able to use the Strengthening Complex irritation or dryness on my face. I use it over retinol serums in the evening, and my skin is in great shape. The Strengthening Complex also works for me for daytime use, under makeup and sunscreen, because it doesn't leave a coating on my skin. These products have definitely helped fade my melasma and make the coloration in my skin blend together better. It only took a couple of weeks before I started seeing changes in color and texture, and the Skin Strengthening Complex gets rid of the "11s" between my eyebrows for most of the day. I think Kinerase is formulated for sensitive skin, so you may have more noticeable results with Nia24. You should defintiely use a couple of the Nia24 trial size products before investing all that money on them. I hope the Nia24 is as great for you as it has been for me!

I always over use my products and this happens to be one of my favorites. The instructions do say some peeling is normal. The box said to adjust your use of product down to let skin adjust. Could it be another product you happen to be using with it? It could be getting rid of dead skin? Try and stick with it as this product really delivers results.

I use this product daily and never had any problems. Are you using it in combination with something else? Because it's really more of a moisturizer and shouldn't cause peeling.

It does contain Vitamin A (a retinoid) which can have that affect; it's an exfoliating ingredient. A lot of people can be sensitive to it which causes irritation. What you can do is only use it every 3rd night (moisturizing well w/ a face creme w/o Vit. A in it in between) & see if it gets better. If so, then try using it every other night for a week or two, eventually using it every night once your skin gets used to it. However the irritation may never go away but give it at least 3 to 4 weeks before giving up. It just might have been too much for your skin in the beginning. It's best to transition slowly when using Vit. A.

Question

Are there ingredients in the NIA24 skin strengthening complex that are not approved or deemed harmful?

I have two questions here. The first one, and the following: There is a long list of ingredients in this cream: the most I've seen in a product. I see that this cream cannot be shipped to other countries. What does this mean? E.g., the EU countries (who are stricter) do not allow some ingredients in products because research has shown that a particular ingredient is harmful (for example, hydroquinone, artificial coloring). Why is it that some products cannot be shipped to other countries? Is this the reason? I would like to know that the ingredients to this NIA24 product are safe before I order it. Thank you!

There are parabens in the skin strengthening complex and the physical exfoliating scrub; however there are no parabens in the cream facial cleanser or the sunscreen. Most cleansers, expecially drug store cleansers/lotion, have some form of paraben or laureth sulfate in them. I believe the skin strengthening complex benefits outweigh the fact that there are parabens in it. I use all 4 of these products and love them.

I don't think harmful or unapproved ingredients is impacting the delivery of this product to other countries. There are numerous products on this site that can be shipped only to US addresses, including BareMinerals.

I've read so many articles about eye cream being an unnecessary product; evidently, applying other face products around the eye area is sufficient most of the time (unless there's a specific warning not to use a particular product around the eye, but you're a grown-up and could figure that one out!). I happen to use Skin Strengthening Complex all around my eyes and have been just fine with it. I can tell you that much, at least! It sure is a money-saver to use products I already have as opposed to a separate eye cream with virtually identical ingredients. So, that's my opinion based on my experience and stuff I've read. Take it for what it's worth! :-)

whenever a product says to "avoid eye area" . . . do so! eye cremes are formulated specifically for the sensitive eye area not only ingredient-wise but texture wise -- they're supposed to be made withh a "higher melting point" because our eye sockets are a much hotter area and need a creme that's formulated to withstand a higher degree of temperature so once applied it doesn't melt and liquify potentially running into the eyes. also, eye cremes' are a great preventative aging product (to a certain degree any way) for an area of our face that always ages first. so, yes, definitely use a good anti-aging eye creme!

It's a light, gel-like lotion that instantly makes skin feel smoother and firmer. It's not greasy and doesn't cause too many problems under makeup.Nia 24 Stimulates the repair of DNA, It enhances energy metabolism and skin cell turnover. Nicotinic acid stimulates a receptor that causes hyperpigmentation. It enhances skin barrier integrity. Skin biopsies tested in groups that used Nia 2x a day for a set of time showed promising results.
Nicotinic Acid stimulates the release of the hormone leptin, which aids healing within skin cells and aids in the reduction of hyperpigmentation. NiaDyne developed Pro Niacin which is a nicotinic acid molecule with an attached lipophilic tail. As a lipophilic molecule, it can penetrate the outer layers of skin and diffuse into the sublayers of the epidermis where cellular regeneration and keratinization occur. This helps firm skin tone. After 12 weeks of of regular use, 2x a day. skin biopsies from subjects in a test group showed a dramatic thickening of the straetum corneum. The strengthening makes skin less vulnerable when inevitably subjected to the environment. In addition the lower dermal layer shows a healthier, tighter cellular matrix after 12 weels of Pro-Niacin.

I have used this product line since it came out. Follow the directions as that is what I did. Start out slow as advised and allow skin to adjust to the niacin in the product. You may break out and or have redness but stick with it and you will be rewarded with better skin as in lighter pigment issues and firmer stronger skin.I started with skin strengthening and slowly added the whole line which I still use one of the treatments every day. I love this line!
