CF does not have salicylic acid and is safe for prego people. CE has it and is suppose to help exfoliate.

SkinCeuticals states that CE Ferulic is for more of a normal to dry skin type where as Phloretin is for more normal to oily skin types. Both are great antioxidants they are just sourced from different things.

The Phloretin should be ok after using a Clarisonic, but Vitamin C serums should be used during the day for best results.

I have used both Phloretin CF and C E Ferulic am on clean skin, after using Retin A .05% the previous evening with no ill effects at all. However, I didn't ask my Dermatologist before doing so, which would probably be the best thing to do.

Is it suitable for an individual with roseacea skin problem?

The phloretin CF is drying. I would look for something less irritating. Personally if I were looking for another good Vitamin C product. I would go with the Cellex-C advanced or the kinerase c8 peptide. These both contain excellent forms of vitamin C and contain the anti-inflammatory/soothing Green tea extract.

Phloretin is a great antioxidant product and it will help to gradually fade dark spots over time. To fade them faster try the SkinCeuticals Pigment Regulator.

Question

Compare Skinceuticals Phloretin CF to Skinceuticals C+E+Ferulic acid

Am 54, always have trouble with brown spots from sun in the summer, even with SPF 70 used every day year round. Skin generally in good condition but sagging at jowls starting, frown lines and facial expression lines deepening. Is one of these products better for me than the other?

Phloretin CF for sure. The only one of the two that would help with elasticity and fade brown spots. The CE Ferulic is mainly for sun and environmental pollution protection.

I would get the Phloretin CF and a good Retinol product to combat fine lines and wrinkles.

To me the ultimate non-invasive combination is: Vitamin C, Retinol or Retin-A, Copper peptide, moisturizer, Red LED light therapy.

My Regimen:

AM: Vitamin C, Moisturizer, SPF

PM: Copper peptide, Retinol, moisturizer

Weekly: Baby Quasar MD (Red) light therapy 2x a week

The Phloretin CF doesn't contain vitamin E and only has 10% Vitamin C. But the Phloretin CF is more effective at brown spots and boosting elasticity IMO. CE Ferulic does not contain Phloretin. To me the Phloretin is the most valuable ingredient that skinceuticals uses.

You would apply the AGE interrupter after applying the lighter weight Phloretin CF serum. You can use both morning and night together. Just apply the serum first, wait about a minute to soak in and then apply the AGE interrupter.

Phloretin CF sure can be used with the A.G.E. Interrupter. Apply Phloretin immediately after cleansing/toning, then give it 3-5 minutes to fully sink in. After that, you can apply any other products on top. Once Phloretin sinks in, it's IN and can't be wiped off with products that follow, so feel free to put A.G.E. Interrupter right on top or use some other products in between. When layering products, the general rule of thumb is to layer from lightest consistency to thickest consistency and wait a short time after each layer to allow it to sink in.

You apply to clean dry skin after toning in the morning. Product goes on the full face, let the serum
dry completely before applying moisturizer and sunscreen.

Question

Product Oxidation

If the product darkens overtime; is it safe to continue using it or is it likely to cause more harm than good? I have also read in some places that Vitamin C can cause staining of skin if used after it has changed color.
Please advise!

If the product has oxidized (turned a dark color) I would not use it. If possible, can you return/exchange it for a fresh bottle? Using the oxidized product will not yield the optimal results that you want.... I would consider it "spoiled" but I am not a derm, I'm just a regular person! But I believe : the fresher, the better! (Just like produce!) :)

It's best to not use a spoiled oxidized vitamin c serum as it will do no good and may even harm your skin with the radicals it's turned into. If you plan on using a skinceuticals style serum, I recommend keeping it in your refrigerator when not using it. This will slow down the oxidation process just like it does with our foods. Another really good vitamin c serum is the skinmedica CE product. The vitamin c in it stays protected by the dimethicone formula and gradually releases into the skin throughout the day.
