Yes, it will expedite the healing process on an open wound and minimize scarring. I would use caution if the wound appears infected, though.

I have used this on burns, but have always waited about 12-24 hours after the initial burn to apply this cream. I find 100% pure aloe to be most effective at relieving the initial pain from a burn (you can find this easily online or in your local drugstore; I keep mine in the fridge so it's nice & cool when applied to a cooking-related burn).
